Hello, I've been gone awhile (just illness and busy, not in jail or anything) and I hate to just pop up and ask a question, but I'm trying to finish my motor.
I'm looking to find out which gap to file my Speed Pro rings (#R-8902 030) for my .030 over 383 build. The rings out of the box (they're not file-fit) measure at approximately .019-.020 for the top rings and .013-.015 for the 2nd ring. One ring measured at .013, so I mated it to a bore where it came out to .014. This all sounds a bit tight, expecially if I want to run a little nitrous in the future. I may be hitting about 400-425(?) HP for this street motor. The pistons I'm using are forged Speed Pro L2491F 030.
I forgot to call Federal Mogul yesterday until it was too late and now I am looking for conservative gap recomendations with about a 150+ shot of nitrous in the picture.
Any help would surely be appreciated today as I'm stuck inside with Tropical Storm Barry raining on the South Carolina coast! Thanks.
me-i'd say that's perfect on 5 cyl.
on the 3 leanest i'd increase the top to .025-028. assuming forged pistons.
opinions vary. nobody else tunes each cyl like me.
