Default How does the radiator core support.......

How does the radiator core support affets the gap between the front fenders and front edge of the doors?

My 79's door line up perfectly at the rear, at the front fender gap is larger at the front than the bottom. The core supprt for the radiator looks solid, I can't tell if it has been replaced though.

When I put the vette on ramps, the gap does not change.

Is there a way of adjusting the front clip by manipulating the core support?

I am getting ready to paint and want to fix any thing I can before I start.

Here's one thread about it. There were many others. Do a search for "core support adjustment"

I have the doors off now. The seam where the front fender is glued to the birdcage area has seperated in the past. It is not loose now though.

It looks to my untrained eye, that perhaps the core support had rotted out and caused some seperation at the door seams.

I got the vette from a guy who was getting divorced, it looks like the first half of the work he did was great. The last work he did was half a**ed to sell it.
