Spent about three hours working on trying to get the rad back onto the the support, when I realized it's probably easier to put the seals in AFTER it's bolted in place. Much less effort.
Since the entire engine compartmet is cleared out, I decided to remove the headlight assemblies and clean them out too.
From what I have read on it, pictures and sketches are essential before disassembly, blasting, painting.
Does anyone have any specific tips and tricks?
The assembly manual has about the best pics/diagrams of the entire headlight assembly and installation process. Get the AIM for '77 and study the diagrams. Getting them out isn't too much of a hassle. You'll find three bolts in the header bar, and one on each side of the support at the nose bar. Getting them back in as a unit is more difficult if you install the radiator before putting the headlights in.
:)
The road to Hell is paved with "While I'm at It" projects :mad :D It shouldn't be too hard to get them out, but like said above, there are lots of small parts and linkages. The AIM is your friend.
