alternator-1 wire-2 wire compatible??
I am running a standard 2 wire alt. on my 81 now. Just bought a 1 wire chrome at "super Chevy show) yesterday.
Sales guy said my 2 wire setup would work well with the new alt. ( 1 wire). Should I trust him? and Whats the difference in the 1 verses 2 wire alternator.

No, he lied to you. The 3 wire systen that was supplied with your 81 is far superior to the 1 wire systen, thats why GM started useing them so many years ago and still do. The 1 wire system is fine for a street rod or a farm tractor, but not as good for a real street car. Check out the article on Madelectrical.com
