Default Quadrajet issues (7042203)

I sent this question to Lars (the MAN) ....but thought the general group may benefit from the discussion as well.....

I have a 7042203 Qjet that is not working properly...

I pulled off the airhorn last night and noticed the following issues:

-incorrect primary rods (coded 44B instead of 45)
-incorrect secondary rods (coded DP instead of DA)
-passenger side 'secondary accelerating well tube' was laying loose in the secondary accelerating well - check out the picture
-I can read a 74 (correct) on one of the main jets but the other one is not marked

My questions are 1) where can I get correct rods? 2) how should I reattach the well tube to the air horn (epoxy, pound in, other?) 3) where can I get correct main jets.

Any other suggestions? Thanks....Chris

Try Edelbrock for the parts. They made a version of the Q-jet and should still support them parts-wise.

You can get parts here.

http://www.carburetion.com/quadrajet.asp

As far as the secondary pickup tube, you should freeze and tap it back in to a hight of 1". Freezing it should make it easier to install.

Default Good info....

I was able to locate the '45' primary rod (edelbrock part #1946) and the '74' jet (edelbrock part #1974)....(thanks Lars!).

Also...thx to all for the info on re-installing the secondary well tube.

Now all I need are the secondary rods.... anyone have a couple 'DA' stamped secondary metering rods laying around??

If so, pls send me a message. Thanks....Chris
