If I hot tank my block, will the cylinder walls be ruined, in other words they are ready for pistons now, but wanting to make sure block is cleaned?!?!?!?!!? Also going to replace cam bearings..........................Bruce
Corvetteload,
You might want to take the block to one of those do-it-yourself car wash bays when you get it back and hit it with the high pressure wand in all the openings. This will blow out any crud that is still lurking in there. You might be surprized at all the stuff that will come out. Have a garden sprayer ready filled with a mixture of automatic transmission fluid and kerosene so you can spray it down immediately after you stop spraying or you will get surface rust in seconds. don't bother to dry it first, just spray it.
