Default Engine running bad issue?

Hello,

I have a question and thought maybe the experts can guide me!

Here are the symptoms and background:

I have a 69 coupe with a 350 and when I got it in April I put a new Holley 670 Street avenger carb with electric choke. after installation and setting the air fule mixtures the car has been running fine. I went out of town for a week and came back last saturday and drove the vette for maybe a 1/2 hour on Sunday... Seemed fine... Today at lunch I jumped in her and by the time I got to the end of my street i stopped at a stop sign and the engine idled way down and wanted to die so I gave it some throttle, turned back around got it in the garage and adjusted the idle up and it would run rough but stay running around 1800 to 2000 RPMs but as soon as I try to adjust the idle down to its normal 1000 RPM range it falls to 500RPMs and wants to just die.... I can keep it running if I close the choke plate a little.. I'm not a carb guy thats why I bought a new one to avoid these headaches...

If I get in the car I can throttle it up to keep it running, but its rough..Up and down...very speratic...

I live in Houston and the Temp around her has started to warm up, but I can't imagine it would make the car not run?

Does this sound like a carbuation issue? I looked for the obvious, Plug wires off and stuff...

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Certainly don't consider myself an expert, however I can pass on a few experiences. Vacuum leak is a good possibility and when replacing a carb often overlooked is the chance of picking up crap from the fuel line any time you break a connection and reconnect. Check your carb filter.

Possible trash in the needle & seat. I've had that happen before & gives the symptoms that you describe.
