Default TTop Gap Adjustment

Can anyoen tell me how to make the gap between the TTops smaller?

I looked in the GM shop manual and unfortunately, the picture included for that section (80) is not right. It is of a convertible top and does not have any of the view arrows and letters on it.

It sounds like you loosen the center alignment pins then install the tops and move them until you get the alignment you want but I don't see how that accounts for inward or outward movement. Fore and aft makes sense.

You have very little control over the gap between the tops. The outer pins is what is going to determin the gap between the tops. The inner spades are adjustable for how tight the seal is.

The holes in the alignment pins are large - they have a certain degree of movement in both front/back and in/out directions.

AIM says the gap between the tops should be 3/8" and even front to back. If you get them to 1/2", you've done well. The rear edges of the glass tops sit above the halo panel. If you try to crank those down to flush, you'll break the tops.

Ok, I was able to get the 3/8" front to back but the front and back edges do not line up from one side of the car to the other. Both panels are off by about 1/8".

Looks like I have to make a choice between a wider gap down the center for lined up along the front and back.

That would suck.

Ok, I made my choice. A slightly wider gap, maybe 3/8"-1/2" down the center in exchange for the front and rear edges to be as near to straight as this car will allow.

Looks a lot better.

There ya go. I'm willing to bet the assembly line folks did the same thing. Set them eyeball scale and leave them alone.
