Default '75 Windshield Wiper Cover....

I have one of those aftermarket plastic windshield wiper covers and was wondering if it put an unnecssary strain on the wipers or the motor. Also, will these affect the performance of the wipers.

I'm asking because I had to use my wipers this afternoon and they didn't work..... It was only after I got out, a jiggled the wiper arm when they started to work. They worked perfectly after that (turning them off & then on as I drove)....but then they quit working again....went through the same procedure and they work just fine. I do notice when you flip the switch, the wipers move down about 1/2" then they begin to work. I also notice the stock wiper stop (without the cover) is a little lower down the glass......Could it be the cover is causing the wipers to not fully "turn off" (by going all the way down) and is putting a strain on the arms??

Hi Vetteguy75. Wow is that a clean motor or what!
There are two grounds in the wiper circut, one from the wiper motor which connects to a bell housing bolt and a second ground at the on-off switch. Did you check them? I don't have that cover so I can't say if that is your problem. PG

THANKS!!! I really appreciate that...I drive it everyday!

I just put a new motor in about a month ago. Also ran a new ground wire from the wiper motor (single black wire) directly to the starter ground (wanted to make sure I had a good gound). I will check the one at the on/off switch this weekend....

The switch is grounded thru the center bezel, when I installed a cd radio the new bezel was plastic so I had to run a seperate wire from the wiper switch to ground and my wipers work again. PG
