Re: [LARGE PICS] What is this electrical connection? (thejaf)
This may be your key buzzer or your TCS delay relay. I think it may be the buzzer since the TCS relay has four wires going to it and the buzzer has two wires, pink/black and orange, at least according to GM electrical diagram in their 72 Chassis Service Manual (which you should have in addtion to your AIM). The location of this switch is right for the TCS relay, however, according to the AIM which shows it in this position of behind and slightly above the center console. It is also significant that the TCS temperature sending unit gets a green wire. Does your key buzzer work? If so, make it buzz and then pull this plug. Do you have a working TCS system? You can always unplug this and see if your system works.

My AIM does not have detailed wiring diagrams. Is the wiring diagrams a special section or something certain vendors offer? I do have the Chiltons and Haynes repair manuals. I don't remember which one, but one has very detailed wiring diagrams for all c3's. I will check which one it is and reply next week. I think it is the Haynes manual.

MWooldridge -- all three of my AIMs (1968, 1974, and 1980) have good wiring diagrams in them back by the options section. The 1968 AIM came from Mid-America and is copyrighted. The other two are not copyrighted and came from ZIP Products.

That item is your thermal time delay relay for your seat belt warning light. It turns the light on when the ignition switch is turned on, and keeps it on for appox. 6-7 sec, then turns off again. Only early 72's had this item. A hard part to find, no reproductions, no NOS parts.I know from looking!! I also have an early 72. I replaced mine with a modern, electronic time delay relay. :D :D

TCS is Transmission Controlled Spark and is a vacuum solenoid, mounted on the right side of the carb that allows vacuum under certain temperature situations with respect to the gear selected. I doubt that this is it. If you have an 72 built in late 1971, you will probably have a light on your center console that says Seat Belt and goes out after a period of time. This is what I have on my car and I am embarrased that I didn't think of this since the colors of the wires didn't match either the TCS or the key buzzer wires on the diagram.
