I am running BFG Comp T/A VR4 235/60-15. What would be a good tire pressure to run in the rear for the best launch with these tires? Going to track tonight. I want to work out as many details before I get there. Thanks for the input. John

Where are you going? Capitol? If so I will probably hear some of the cars run from my house. I 'm interested in what pressure is best also. I ran 28 psi in last time and wondered about going lower. It seemed to help but there is always a fine line there with a clutch car. I run similar tire 235/60/15 GFB radials. Have fun, what are you hoping to run ET wise?

Yup Capitol Raceway. Last time I was there I went 14.4@97mph. That was with a TH400 and 3.08 rear. This time out I expect to get into the 13 second bracket somewhere. I now have 200r4 and 3.90 rear aswell as a few other minor improvements. The car feels much better. It now lifts the front end on take off and thats something it never did before with the 3.08's. I just bled the brakes to give me more holding power from the line. I can hold the car still up to about 2000rpm. When I release the brake and punch it the tires spin pretty good. Of coarse thats on my concrete driveway. Conditions could be different at the track. I know that reducing the tire pressure will soften up the tires a bit and help traction. Hence, Im looking for opinions on a good pressure setting.

I have read in CHP or Hot Rod mag that lowering the tire pressure is only for non-radial tires. It said that radial tires lose contact area if you lower the pressure. I don't know if more air would be good either. I think that I would just leave your normal air pressure in the tire.

I race quite a bit and found that even with radial you need to lower the pressure quite a bit. I run 15-16 lbs in mine with the best results.Do your burnouts in second gear to get the best results. If you spin off the line reduce the RPM on starts and punch it after your rolling. :flag

last time i was at the track i played with it a little bit and with my 245/60/15 BFGs I go tthe best reasults using 25 psi in the rear and 45 in the front i didnt try anything lower in the back though. with 35 psi in the rear i had 2.6 60ft times and with 25 I had 2.19 60ft times.

The final decision was 20psi. I noticed that my burnouts got more agressive as the night went on. I made 5 runs. My best reaction time was .5066. Best E.T. of the night was 13.65@100.28. My E.T's and 60' times were better with the harder burnouts. It was a cold night with steady headwinds gusting up to 30mph. Satisfied I am. John
