Default Lockup conv. testing

Is there any procedure I can use to verify that my lockup converter is locking up?

you should feel it shift. Mine locks up at just above 40 mph when cruising lightly.

You can disconnect the switch on the firewall and see if you feel a difference. Mine is very noticable when it does engage. The RPM drop by 500 and the car feels like it shifted into another gear.

Very noticable with the new motor -- now it feels like someone is pushing the back of the car suddenly.

Should braking disengage the lockup? If so, try cruising at about 50mph or above & gently depress the brake pedal. On mine the rpm would rise by about 300 at the same mph.

yes, that brake-trick proved I have a working lockup, same as Bseery, at 40mph..:)
It's not very noticeable when it locks up though and I wasn't sure since I don't have any experience with this, the vette is my first car with auto trans...

Thanks all!
