I had a question about this phrase:These are crack prone...
I'm building myself another engine and found a 350 with these 76 cc chamber heads...these are crack prone!!!
That doesn't sound good does it?
I'm from Holland, the Netherlands and know the meaning of the word crack, but what does this whole phrase means in layman's terms...

Thin, lightweight (well, for iron heads) castings that crack easily. In other words, junk heads.
They don't make good power at all and have small 160cc runners at that. What have you got 462624s? The worst of them all.
Yep,these are the magic numbers....462624
Thanks for the explanation...
So if I want some higher compression I would have to use flat top pistons with a 12:1 ratio to make it eventually 9,5 or 10:1 with these heads?

just junk the heads, they are not worth using at all..period.
The better "heavy casting" heads are flat across the bottom edge except for one little cut-out. The lighter heads that like to crack, are not flat across the bottom edge. They have a cut-out between each cylinder. That is the easiest way to tell.
