hey guy
Just thought i would post a few pics of out frame repairs. Some of you may remember the frame from earlier post, it was in really bad shape.
Since then we have repaired the kickups:
Repaired the underside of the kickups and replaced body mounts and #4 crossmember gussets:
It's been a lot of work but we have enjoyed it. Looking forward to getting the thing back from the sand blasters next trip in. Then we can start adding all the new parts.
Did you purchase the rear kickup to third member pieces or did you fabricate them? I've got the same kind of thing going on but to a lesser degree. Thanks for the before / after pictures. You've increased my confidence that rust can be overcome. By the way, nice job!

All parts for the frame we fabricated, with the exception of the # 4 crossmember gussets and the body frame mounts. So far I hace used 1/2 sheet (4' x 4') piece of 1/8" steel, $70.00 cdn. I have used lots of welding wire, zip cut disc, and oxy/accetylene. As long as I don't try and account for my time, I feel o.k. Each kick-up took me about 2 wks to complete. Making lots of measurements, bracing everything, and taking your time, no rush, is the only way.
Thanks for the reply.
Was there a way you could look up into the boxed sections to look for hidden rust?
Once the tail section was removed, forward of the rear gusset, you could see all the way up to the #1 frame body mount. I used a air neddle gun on a broom handle to remove any scale and then vacuumed it out.
That's a great link. No I wasn't aware of Doc. Paragon Reproductions has some frame parts, but I couldn't locate the rear kick-ups, which were the hardest to re-construct.
Thanks for the link.

Same for the west, bought a lot of stuff there for this project. Gee!! maybe I shouldn't have cut my old frame in half!
Great work
Gotta love their return policy, my garage looks like the project was sponsored by Princess. The frame was a good project to do once, I think if I ever did another rebuild I would definently look for a frame that was a little more rust free.
