Default Should I do this for practice?

I'm thinking about repainting my '75 because the paint's a little weak. If i polish hard enough, all the junk actually comes off, along with a little paint, but it takes a lot of effort. So my question is: should i buy some old fiberglass surfboards and practice on those before I do work on my vette? Seeing as how they're both made of fiberglass, I would imagine they would react about the same to prepping and painting. Any input would be great. :spam

So does that mean I should buy a big block hood and paint that first? I would kind of like to keep the hood I have and I can pick up used boards for dirt cheap. Does anyone know if surf boards will behave like body panels from the standpoint of painting them?

I've never painted a surfboard, but I did surf when I lived in San Diego, and I'm assuming it probably wouldn't react the exact same way as a corvette because a surfboard is built to be lightweight and not very dense...it' supposed to be made as efficient as possible to float, yet be light enough to be maneuverable (sp?). however, it should be close enough to see if you would be able to do a decent job on the vette. Since you can pick up a few old surfboards cheap, i'd say go with it and have some fun :) then mail me the surfboards afterwords  ;) Good luck with the painting!
