Default Holley Throttle Bracket

I'm switching from a Q-jet to a Holley Street Avenger and have a throttle cable question.

The Q-jet is a clamp style throttle cable, but the bracket I got with the card is for the square style cable. Is there a bracket to use my current cable or do I need to change throttle cables.

Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem!!!!

I have a 68 (with the original type throttle cable). Holley sells a throttle cable bracket for their carbs, but the bracket requires a square plastic fastener on the cable. (So a early C3 throttle cable won't work.) The LT1's had Holleys and used a throttle bracket for this application but they are apparently no longer available. Some catalogs say that the throttle brackets for the 454's will work, but my 454 throttle bracket doesn't fit either since one of the "tangs" were it mounts to the carb is not compatible with the Holley on my ZZ4.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found one about 5 years ago and have been looking for another one, with no luck. You need one from a 70-72 LT1 or 71 LS6. The quadrajet one will not work, unless you modify it by extending it and welding a piece of metal around the peg to stop it from rotating. The holley one needs to be extended about 3/4 of an inch in order to make your correct throttle cable work. If ANYBODY HAS ANY IDEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Have you tried Paragon corvette parts?? If they cant help you, check out Contemporary corvette. They have lots of used Vette parts, but dont think for a minute that its gonna be cheap! I wouldn't be surprised if that bracket cost you $50. I bought one a couple years ago from them and it was $35 for a crappy looking piece, but it worked.

It was a LONG time ago, but I bought one from Chevy for a '70-'72 LT-1.
GM still has a lot of parts available if you dig, for example, even though Flaming River makes a repro steering box, GM STILL sells them new - the trick is that they are listed as for (I think) '72 ONLY?!

I made my own. I did not look into it but can you change out the cable to the newer style?

OK so now I'm confused

I've got a 69 with the "bolt to the firewall" & clamp type cable holder with the snap on round ball type end that was on my car with a holley.
I have no idea if it's original or not?? But I've been trying to figure out how long the round ball end will last on the quadrojets square clip-post throttle?

Ya I'm going the other way...holley to quadjet

Doc Rebuild has them, and so does Paragon. (Clamp style for use with Holley) I need the same thing!

I think The best way to Go is a new Cable like rdrunner's "Lokar" suggestion.
But that said....
I Had the same problem and adapted the original cable to a Holley carb and then a Demon carb, using one of the holley Brackets and the same procedure. Its not real easy to do, The tweaks have to be dead on to use the original "fitted length" Cable or the effort will become a Nightmare and wont quite work. It required ,Drilling the bracket for a "stop" and a few other little tweaks. Mine does work well though!
I think I have a picture, Ill look and post it..
well you cant see it but..
The red rail is the Holley Bracket, I just drilled a little hole in it to make a stop for the Quadrajet Clamp style cable.

I just contacted Paragon. The part # is 2511K, but it has been discontinued. It looks like new cable or a fabricated bracket is the only way to go.

Thanks for the many responses.

Do as rdrunner suggests. When I put on my dual quads I emailed lokar and they set me up.

Autozone has a universal steel braided "trim to fit" accelerator cable for around $25.....problem solved

I've used two in the past on different vehicles and love them
