I'll tr and get a pic, but I installed a universal type metal filter on my 69 L71 in line after the pump, where the fuel line crosses the intake manifold. It's the kind that is cylindical, maybe 1.5" dia. and 2.5" long, w/clamps and short piecs of rubber included.
So that is in the horizontal section of the fuel line, isn't it ?
Yes, pics would be great.
I would probably try to flare the existing fuel tube and use proper B-nut type
connections ( MS or AN ) , if that is possible. Would possibly get this done at work in our
hydraulic shop.
On all my vettes over the years I have spliced in a fuel filter in the rubber hose right after the gas tank. I currently use this system on my '69 tripower. It fits nicely in the frame rail and does not mess up the metal fuel lines up at the carb. I do not like the idea of a large filter under the hood acting as a heat sink and causing drivability issues, especially with today's gasoline.
Don't tell Lars because he hates this system. Something about sucking rather that pushing. But, I have never had a problem.
I also like the idea of the filter in front of the pump.
My injected Opel Manta B has one, but it is a rather coarse screen. It has a fine mesh filter also after the pump.
So I don't realy know, maybe both, even the same filters.
They are good enough for a injection with high flow due to the return line, so should do for a only supply line feed 4 times bigger Vette engine.

Just another idea.
Ralph.
What fuel filter you use? How exactly do you splice yours in?
Just go to Checkers or any auto supply store and get a 3/8" fuel filter. Cut the rubber line, take out about 4" and use the clamps suppled in the filter kit. If you look under your rear valance, it will be fairly clear to you.
