Cyl #4 0 PSI @90%
Cyl #6 85 PSI @30%
Cyl #8 90 PSI @50%
The shop thinks it's either a valve or a valve and piston. I've been getting some pretty high $$$ quoted to me for either repair.
So, any feedback on those impressive numbers, (although when I drive the car it seems to run fine to me; maybe never having driven a 454 Vette before is the reason why). And any feedback on what would be a reasonable cost to do either?
Thanks,
Paul
Take it to another shop for a second opinion, or if you can take a reading yourself do it on at least one or two of those cylinders in trouble to verify the readings.
Big engines can mask quite a few problems due to their size, a zero reading in a cylinder would be noticeable though, as if a plug wire were disconnected.
