Default ZZ4 Dyno Numbers

Been running ZZ4 w/ Fastburn heads for a few years -
Installed Hot Cam and GM's Air Gap manifold.
Going on Tony's Corvette dyno this week -
Any of you other ZZ4 guys upgraded to the Hot Cam?
Been on a Dyno? What numbers did you get? Thanks

Is the car a stick? I would think it would do a little more then 285rwhp with the FB heads and Hot cam. Our stock ZZ4 made 255rwhp with a M22 4spd and thats through a 9" Ford rear(power killer also, like the IRS)

Assuming your car is a stick and the motor is healthy and tuned right, I could see 320rwhp(thats if it really made 430 crank HP as advertised)

AJ, it is a stock stick car - Installing TKO 600 right now w/the install of the HOT CAM. I am expecting more from the ZZ4 Fast Burns with the hot cam. I believe in Tony's Corvette Shop Dyno to get me the safest best power out of the combo. Also running a 125 NOS shot
Will let you guys know - hope to have it back by the end of the week.

OK what has this got over the base ZZ4, the one that is supposed to 350HP ? I have seen the zz4 dynoed many times and come in around the 265 RWHP mark, it would be remarkable to make 40 HP with a cam change especially if the original cam was no slouch

To the original poster, same question, what has your motor got over the base ZZ4, I may have to revise my numbers

HAHA Motorhead....

ZZ4= 355 crank hp
FB 385: ZZ4+Fast burn heads=385 crank hp
ZZ430: ZZ4+Fast burn heads+LT1 Hot cam= 430hp

I believe the original post has built a ZZ430 out of his original ZZ4.

Mine is:

Base ZZ4 = 355HP
ZZ4 + Hotcam = 395HP
And at the rear wheels was 306HP... 90HP loss... Yuck!

GM FAST Burn 385HP
HOT CAM and 1.6 Roller Rockers
Edlebrock performer intake. I did not ust the GM intake because I thought the hood would not close using the factory air cleaner.
Holley 750 w/vacuum secondaries
Occording to GM the motor S/B 400 hp at crank

5 speed Keisler
Headers
2.5 " exhaust with high flow cats and magnaflow mufflers

I need to get this to the dyno. I would love to see 300 at the rear wheels.

Car moves!

MotorHead, AJROTHM has rated HP correct:
ZZ4 = 355 hp
w/FB Heads = 385hp
Clone ZZ430 w/hotcam = 430hp
GM Air Gap Manifold + 5/10hp???
The shop says pickup Friday will post results.
Thanks again guys.

I have:

FB 385+ 1.6 roller rockers + Hot Cam
Headers
Duel 2.5" exhaust
Holly 750 double pumper

Last time I had it dynoed:

rear wheel hp: 291.82
torque: 300.28

I now have the carb tuned. The air/fuel ratio was running way rich when these numbers were taken. There probably is a fair amount of horsepower that I gain since tuning it. I need to get it re-dynoed to find out.

I'm not impressed at all.

My little "old school" 331 at 9.5 CR with a hydraulic cam does better than these "ZZ" things.

My combination:
331 CI, pump-friendly 9.5:1 CR
K&N 14"x4" air filter, Corvette drop base and lid
Holley 600 dp, choke horn milled, polished
1/2" Aluminum open spacer port matched to manifold, exterior polished
Edelbrock Performer RPM, port matched, exterior polished with all extraneous castings and lettering removed
Homemade lifter valley splash shield to keep hot oil off manifold bottom
Camel hump 1.94/1.50 heads hogged out to 2.02/1.60, pocket ported, port matched, pump-friendly hardened seats, 3-angle valve job
Comp Cams 1.52:1 roller-tip rockers
Crane Cam Vintage Muscle 327/350 hp cam, 222 degrees @ 0.05, 0.447" lift (with 1.50 rockers)
Doug Thorley headers, dechromed and ceramic-coated
2.5" mandral-bent exhaust (including tips), 2" cross-over just before rear axle
DynoMax stainless Ultra Flow mufflers
Mallory Hyfire IV CD ignition box triggered off Accel points
Mallory high voltage chrome coil
Mallory spiral-wound coil wire
Mallory solid copper plug wires, ends soldered to wires
Champion plugs
37 degrees total ignition advance (now 34 degrees per Lars tune-up)
Carter high volume fuel pump
Melling high volume oil pump
Open breathers
Polished aluminum high flow water pump
Flex fan with polished aluminum spacer
Polished aluminum one-wire 100 amp alternator
Muncie M-20 CR 4-speed (now Keisler TKO600 5-Speed)
Hurst shifter (Now Keisler With Hurst Tower)
3.70:1 positraction
225/60/15 Firestone Firehawk SZ50s on 7”-wide Western 30-spoke Turbine Wheels

At the time of the dyno pull the engine had never been professionally tuned up. The car did 293 ft-lb and 293 hp @ 5,500 rpm on the chassis dyno. The engine pulls to 6,200 rpm and does over 200 ft-lb from 1,900 rpm. This was prior to some clean-up work around the junction of the carburetor and base of the air cleaner that smooths the flow through this area and a Lars tune-up and should be good for a few ponies. The car has run 107 mph in the 13's (old, bad tires) at the quarter. The car is extremely streetable and could probably even run 87 octane if it had to. (I can't get the engine to ping no matter how far I advance the ignition.)

The secret to power is in the attention to details!

I was 6.82 HP off, no recalculation needed

I put my ZZ4 on the dyno (see below), and in this condition I've managed a 12.8 sec 1/4 mile. Best dyno run was at 325 RWHP, 355 TQ, and that was with the engine quite a bit lean (13.5 A/F ratio at WOT).

ZZ4 w/ GM's hot cam
Home ported ZZ4 heads
Manley valves - stock size
AFR rev kit
BG 650 Demon

DAMN...NICE.... 320rwhp, right what I guessed in my first post on this thread..

That should get you 12.90s on motor, 11.70s-.80s on the hose...
