I have a radio noise suppressor that splices into the alternator main power line. There are two hot lines coming from my alternator. I don't know which one is the main line to the battery. Any help would really be great.
Thats the Exciter and voltage sense wires. The exciter turns the alternator on and the sense wire detects what the system voltage is ans uses that to determine alternator output
That RFI suppressor will work better if installed inline of the radio's power wire.
Your alternator already has a capacitor in it for filtering "noise" by putting it in the radio wire it will help suppress any "noise" from other sources.

Yes, that internal cap does knock some of the sharpest spikes off the diode cutoffs...., but it is no panacea....
More expensive amps will not pick up the alt noise....cheeep crap will....complicated issue, not easily explained....
I have sb -71 Vette. My alt comes two wires, brown and black/white. Now i wonder which goes where? The alt is marked R1 and 2. Where the brown goes in and what about bl/wh?
I forget the orginal GM color codes...but you take a voltmeter, and check which one is hot with key off, that one goes to the MOST clockwise pin when viewed from the back of the alt....many alts have lost their markings, so that is why I referr to MOST CLOCKWISE or least clockwise....
the other wire should have NO voltage on it, turn on the key, don't bother starting the car....the wire should then have voltage on it...if so, that goes to the LEAST clockwise terminal in that connector...
