Default Intake manifolds fitting under 73 hood?

I have a wieland stealth 8016 which has a carb pad height of 4.34". I do not have my old intake to compare it too but I would like to run my q jet after getting Lars to fix it up. I also want to use the original air cleaner but I am going to have to use a carb adapter for the q jet carb on a square bore intake. Does anybody think it will fit??? Does anybody know the carb pad height of an intake that for sure fits all that stuff on it under the stock 73 hood???? Or a comapable intake to the stock one like a holley or edelbrock that I can check the heigts???

OR should I forget about the awesome qjet and shut up and get a holley 4160 or something. I wish their was a carb or adapter for a Holley to the factory 73 air filter assembly. I just like the look of it and at least it actually pulls cooler air in. '

Thanks for any answers or 2cents about this.
Bobby

Do not think so, I have to use a drop base with a Stealth and Holley in my 73.

Default I just went through this

the weiand pn 8004 will work under your hood w/ stock intake... the route that I took. also the base eddelbrock will i don't remember the pn though. the weiand 8004 is set up for use w/ a stock thermostatic coil for choke also (also called a divorced choke). With an adapter you're definitely going to need to an aftermarket drop base air cleaner. I actually wanted to go w/ a weiand stealth though because they sound like they perform awesome so I researched the project. If you need some pn's for drop bases give me a holla.

Have a Torker II with a Holley 650 DP with carb spacers on my 73-350. Fits no problem. The air cleaner is the triangular one from Edelbrock.

Thought about doing a home brewed cowl base such as the ones on this site since mine did have the stock when I bought it.

I have a 74 which I'm pretty sure has the same hood as your 73, I spent a lot of time getting a almost stock air cleaner to fit. I'm using a GM alum vortec dual pattern manifold, the factory quadrajet with a nitrous plate. I had to modify two parts of the stock air cleaner assy. First was to modify the ring( the one that drops down in top of the air cleaner) the rubber seal fits on, from the factory it has ahout a 3/4 step up to it. I had mine modified so that its flat, that gains you over 1/2 an inch. The second thing I had to do , but you may not, was to shorten the snorkels that come off the air cleaner. Since our motors are not exactly in the center of the engine compartments the right side would barely rub the hood, since it was slightly outside off the raised section off the hood.
I know this sounds like a Bubba job, but I had everything modified by a metal fab shop and it turned out very nice.
