Hello all. I have a 1969 roadster...or do I? I was reading one of my many Corvette books the other night and read that one of the changes from 1968 to 1969 was the moving of reverse light from the lower fender to the brake light. I went out to check, I do have brake lights with the reverse light in them but I also have the lower reverse lights like on a '69. I do have the 69 stingray script & 69 door handle. Does anyone have an idea on this? Are there any other differences?
There are a couple things that I know of that might help you. Check the vin #, 68's have a unique shifter plate that was only made that year. 68's also have door panels that are unique to that year. There was no map pocket in front of the passenger seat for the 68. Hope this helps. Good luck! :seeya
Where is your ignigision switch is it on the dash or the stering colum
68 was on the dash which engine do you have ? 68 has 327 -427
69 has 350 --427 good luck
The replies so far have listed many differences '68 to '69. If you don't have any of the specific '68 only items, save the rear valance panel and VIN is '69 then I would imagine your valance was replaced, perhaps due to an accident, and a '68 part was inadvertently substituted.
Just to restate the list of '68 clues, aside from VIN.
Unique push button door handles.
Unique to year inner door panels (see Eckler catalog for picture and compare)
Last year of 327 small block
Larger (by one inch) steering wheel rim diameter than '69 and later.
Console has no provision for engine data info.
Back up lamps in rear valance as mentioned.
Ignition on dash
Seat belt holder integrated in e. brake console (but not my very late production '68!)
There are other differences but these are the major visible ones that I can think of.....
