If I remember ....there isnt any room even to slide...hehe
The track has never bothered me about no hold down, but on street legal drag nights, they only tech people that have nitrous. I have owned mine for 11 years, never had a hold down in it, never had problem.
It would be a shame to fail tech and not be allowed to run for lack of a battery holddown! I bought one of those parts store plastic battery trays. Then I bolted the tray to the bottom of the battery compartment. The compartment already had a hole in the bottom (I guess for drainage?). For a while I had a bungee cord around the battery that I hooked onto the tray. I bought a generic parts store battery holddown bracket but it was about 6 inches too tall for the battery compartment. I eventually got around to trimming the pieces down to fit. (Easy to do if you have a sawzall, but difficult for me with only a nail file! :) ) So there is my inelegant and complex solution to a very simple problem! :) MJ
These hold downs are pretty generic. Suggest you find one at auto parts store or salvage yard, and use grinder to 'make it fit'. I wouldn't want to risk getting the vette upside down (heaven forbid), and having the battery come out and roll around in the cabin, not that the cables and lid might be enough to hold it in there, just wouldn't like the idea of taking that chance.
ps........ I used a computer 'mouse pad' under my battery, and it, along with the clamp, seem to really hold it in there tight.
It's actually on my list of "things to do". Both lids actually have everything except for the piece they latch against. Actually took me 5 months before I figured out why the doors didn't latch shut. ;)
