Default 1972 Corvette Body Mount Bolts

Just starting a frame off restoration on a 1972 Coupe. I am having a problem getting out the body mount bolts that are located behind the rear tires. The bolts just spin. Are there weld nuts on the frame that have maybe broken loose? Any ideas on getting these out?

Look inside the cabin..way in back...in a depression in the fiberglass. A cage over a nut holds that bolt in, and is probably rusted. If you find it won't turn..Just spins...or snaps the bolt...do yourself a favor & cut that bolt off with a sawzall or grinder. (most guys do)
You'll need new bolts & nuts anyway...right???

That's about the only way. The nuts are just held on the fiberglass with a couple of rivets that corrode and break off. They are only meant to hold the nuts in place for assembly.

Good advise above. Get your saw-all and cut through the bolt,..I'd cut through the rubber mount. Then you can hammer up on the bolt left in the mount a couple of whacks and you'll break the two rivets holding the cage and nut. Remove that mess then replace the nut with with a 7/16" course thread grade 5 nut and washer,..kind of pain to get started but be glad you don't have a convertible.

True but 73 was the first year for rubber mounts so he will have to cut off the head.
