Would That Be With A V8, V6? How Do I Visally Tell A 200r4 Vs. 700r4?

 

The 700 has a rather wide odd shaped pan with just ONE bucket...the 200 has a longer skinny look to it, and has what appears to be as 2 buckets due to a diagonal stamped into it, forming a rear segment and front segment...
you need from a V8 engine, or 6 cyl like a SBC I forget exact displacement....4.3 4.6? they do make a 'universal bellhousing which would fit a GN or chebby....I happen to have one of those....
your 3 letter code should be something like CTF meaning from a V8....

 

The 2004R also has a 1 piece case, no bolt on tail stock. There is an electrical connector on the drivers side for the TCC, 1 round piston cover on the pass side for the 2nd gear servo and no modulator or governor cover on the outside.

 

I have a used haynes techbook #10360 for General Motors auto trans overhaul,, its got all the info you want to differantiate the differant tranies.
If you want it,, all you have to do is pay shipping,, probably around $6.

Your choice for Coolers, I got an 18" Heat sink type, extruded aluminum, double pass. You will need a high stall converter, I got a 2200 from the same guy I got most of the other stuff from. You may not need all the stuff I put in. Maybe more, they make a Hardned sun gear shell that I didn't get. I got the torringtom bearing kit because I didn't like the look of one of the plastic bearings in my tranny. The rebuild kit comes with a perfectly servicable band, for performance it is a good idea to get a wide band. I chose the kevlar band and I hope i works out ok, but several of the rebuilders I talked to about it did not like them, after I bought it. From what I could find the sonax and superior servo were the same, both advertise 17% over stock apply force, superior is cheaper, both look sexy. I needed to replace 2 of the 3 sets of planetary gearsets, the bushings were worn more than I wanted for a "new" tranny but were still in spec. Those 2 were not rebuildable, the 3rd planetary was worn beyond spec, but is rebuildable, CK has the parts. I got some from a friend of Big2bird out in california.
You need a book, thats the one I got. The Video is THE answer, you can watch a couple minutes, put in a part and then watch the next part. I don't know about the downloadable one, but I like the idea. I was going to RIP the tape, but for the price..?

what else? I was going to photo document the whole process of rebuilding the tranny, but the Video did a LOT better job than I ever could have. I think thats it, if I think of anything else..
