when you guys installed your side exhaust hooker headers did you have to lift the engine on either side?? Or did they slip in with no motor movement??? thanx
Best to bolt the exhaust gasket to the flange and ream bolt holes first, then mount the headers
Just did this last weekend. The drivers side is tricky, so you need to get the car up pretty high. With the headers pointing up and collector down, slip the #1 cyldr pipe by the steering box as close to the frame and as low as you can...than tilt it up. Hard to explain, but the only way it clears. It helps if the starter is out on the other side.
Good luck...

Just installed my Hooker sidepipes this weekend. I had the motor out and tied them up out of the way inside the motor compartment before installing. Make install much easier. Looks very tight otherwise.
I put my car up on ramps. The passenger side went right in without a hitch. For the drivers side I had to jack it up a bit higher than what the ramp was giving me. I laid a blanket on the ground and covered the steering box with a towel so I wouldn't scratch up the header and then carefully maneuver it around to get it past the steering box. It is a little more tricky to get bolted up than the passengers side so be patient and have someone (my wife helped me ) under the car to help you guide and then hold in place until you get the bolts started into the head. You need to remove the spark plugs, temperature sending unit and oil sender on the drivers side in order to get it in there, I didn't have to remove my starter, but I did make sure that the wires going to it had sufficient clearance from getting burned. All total with cutting out my old system I'd say it took me about 4 hours to do.
