Well it looks like my heater core is leaking coolant and I'm trying to get to a show tonight. Any problem with running the heater hose out the thermostat and back into the water pump, then plugging the hoses going to the heater core?

If it has a vacuum shut off valve to the heater hose you can pull the power lead to the A/C compressor, turn the A/C on and it will stop the flow of coolant to the heater core
Batmans fix will cut off 100% of the flow.
I have never checked to see if the vacuum controlled valve lets any coolant by but it should work fairly well if your in a hurry.
in a pinch you can loop the 3/4 hose; just have to cinch down a little more on one end - done it many times.
if you want to buy special fittings, just get plugs for the intake and water pump, and lay the hoses aside.
It's good to seal the open ends on the core side, 3M makes some "special" tape that works well. but since the core leaks i wouldn't worry about it unless you have dirt dauber problems . . .
