Just finished a resto on my '72, the only way the wipers will work is if I push in the wiper switch and hold it in. Works this way in all speeds, as soon as I let go the wipers park and stop. The only wire I see in common to the washer pump and wiper motor is the center yellow wire. Any ideas on what is wrong.
Are you sure you didn't plug the plug into the switch upside down? Trust me, it happens. Only the washer mode will run the wipers that way.
The yellow wire is hot....you could always switch the outter wires and see if things get better, if nothing else it may prove you have a bad switch....
thanks for the replies, I could have hooked it upside down. Either way the center column is coming out.
Make sure the switch is grounded.Easy test is to turn ign. switch on-turn on the wiper switch-wet your fingers and touch the screws that hold the switch in the center cluster.Just kidding use a piece of wire-if you use your fingers it will shock the crap out of you if you are the bridge to ground.
