I am trying to determine the rear axel ratio in my 73. the numbers on the housing (AT235W7E1) don't correspond to this vintage. Can anyone tell me what the ratio and year is ?
If your differential has ever been played with you may or may not have that ratio in the pumpkin. Jack up both sides of the car, put a small piece of masking tape on your driveshaft, a small piece of tape on one tire, and another piece of tape on your fender. Rotate your tire exactly one rotation and count the revolutions of your driveshaft. I did this with a 66 I owned and got 3 1/3 rotations. Hey, the code of the differential said 3.36 so it must be. This works and is accurate enough to differentiate between 3.36, 3.55, and 3.70.
