82' speedometer problem
Hey guys, I'm new to the forums. I bought a 1982 corvette a few days ago and the first problem I have noticed is the speedometer has stopped working. Every other gauge on the car works fine, but the speedometer and the mileage bar have stopped working. Has anyone else run into this problem and do you know a way to fix it without totally replacing the speedometer. Any suggestions would help, Thanks

Its not likely the speedometer. It will usually be the cable, the gear in the trans. or the gears in the cruise control transducer. Take the cable loose at the transducer and spin it CCW. If the speedometer moves, it is from there to the transmission If not it will probably be the upper cable.
