My '80 L-82 shifts too early. I will be installing a Trans-go kit and probably recalibrating the governor depending on what they reccomend.
-Mark.
Yeah, I noticed that too. This is my third C3 but my first automatic and it seems like it's shifting a lot sooner than it should be. I'm hoping that can be adjusted, but I'd like to do a shift kit in addition since I will be taking this car to the track occasionally. What transmission did they put in the 1980's?

We have the run of the mill TH-350 for 1980. It shifts early when driving easy and shifts early at WOT too. I need it to change grears at about 6000 RPM WOT and it shifts in the low 5K range unless I hold it manualy.
Give Trans-Go a call and see what they say. The tranny kit is the next thing on my to-do list as well.
After talking with a local restoration shop and a speed shop, I'm leaning towards just replacing the whole transmission with a performance one.
Primarily because I'm putting in 3.70 gears this weekend (a major step from the 2.72 or 2.86, whichever the stock gears were) and 5,000 RPM's at 60 Mph isn't all that appealing to me. A new tranny with overdrive will prevent the top-end loss the new gears will cause.
