That just a happened a couple of weeks ago out at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I went to the August meet. It's well worth going there just to see how they try to attain speed records.

I don't understand,
Top fueler Dragsters are doing about 320mph when they cross the finish line these days, and they did it in 1/4 mile.
Why is 450 such a big deal? It seems with different gearing a top fuler could go a whole lot faster ( in fact I know they limit the rear gear to slow them down :eek: )

the top fuelers engine wouldnt make it another 2 feet after the quarter :lol:
but you are right, when you think of it that way BIG DEAL! and the dragsters are fighting with alot more complications such as traction.

427 - The dragster looking class at the flats are called lakesters. They have earo bodies on them and run 370 ish mph. They also have to tone the motors way down to get them to last for a flying mile. I have never seen so many blown motors.
Traction is a real problem there. They buy these 400 mph rated tires and they are ruined from tire slip at over 300 mph
