My gauge cluseter lights went completely off! help!
I removed my center guage cluster and shifter console to route the new A/C wiring harness, and now when I put everything back all my gauges went dark! I just pulled everything back off and never found anything wrong! the fuse is OK and everything else inside the cabin is working just fine, cegarette lighter works, radio works, all guages work .. everything except the dam lights! anyone got any idea where to check? I really hate to take my whole dash off for that! I am really pissed off!
Check that headlight switch, for cable/plug seating, and that damn pesky dimmer on there, that thing is a nitemare...alll the time on and off and intermittant, due to age and corrosion...work hell outta that ****.... after that, make sure your tach and speedo are grounded there are two individual spade terminals one to each of them on the bottom edge...terminal is under a screw into the metal frame....
PIA....FWIW, years ago I modded hell outta my speedo/tach cluster, and put ONE plug on that puppy, no more 5 billion lightbulbs....course I have an early shark.....ymmv.....
I think I dicovered the cause of the problem, I accidently grounded a black wire besides the radio, I thought it was the radio's ground. I removed that black wire and now when I put a 12V in any of the light bulbs terminal all of my gauges will illuminate. but still they are not when I pull the light switch, still the fuse is OK. is there a circuit breaker/fuse anywhere else?
also maybe that black wire should go to somewhere, where? I dont have a clue!
Problem solved. when I grounded that black wire it blew a small fuse in th fuse panel which I didnt notice, its a very small fuse. I fixed that after removing the whole center guage cluster and the radio! I have to refix the whole thing again!
