Default quick L48 question

Is it possible to have a factory 4 speed manual with an L48 engine or does the 4 speed only come with the L48? I'm trying to decide which one is in my 77. Is there any other way to distinguish between the two engines? thanks for any help

L-48's came with a 4 speed manual or 3 speed automatic.
L-82's came with a 4 speed manual or 3 speed automatic.

In other words, transmission type is not determined by engine type.

Hi, in 1977 you could get either the L-48 or the L82 with a 4 speed, what's the 5th digit in your vin #. PG

If the 5th digit is an "L" then 350ci, 180hp (L48)

If the 5th digit is an "X" the 350ci, 210hp (L82)
