Electrical cut-out

When I step on the brakes, every once in a while the rest of my lights and whatnot will flicker. Like they shut off for a fraction of a second and then come back on.

It's only when I step on the brake pedal. I'm figuring that I have a problem in one of two areas...the switch that turns on the brake lights, and the brake light grounds. Sound like the right area to start looking?

One important distinction: Does it happen whether car is moving or not? If only when car is moving, then the force of decelleration could be separating an already loose connection (that's what was happening to me, and it was the cable connection at the battery). If it happens when the car is stationary, then your suggestions have merit. MJ

good call. yes, it is when it is moving. i'll check to see if it does it while stationary...thanks.

There are many wires and conectors above the brake pedal, make sure your foot is not pulling on these wires as you reach for the brake.

Check to see that your keys are not rotating the ignition to the OFF position !
