I know that there are Teflon coated brake bleeders out there but if I want to use my standard bleeders could I use Teflon tape on them to prevent leaks? Can I use it on brake lines as well????

Just curious.....
Thanks
No, bleeders and flared fittings do not seal by the threads, they seal on the tapererd parts.
Especially on the lines, TFE tape can actually make the fittings seal worse, by keeping the fitting from applying proper pressure to the flared part of the line.

But if your going to bleed your brakes with the hose in a bottle of fluid method then the teflon around the threads only will keep air from being sucked back in when you back off the pedal.
Excellent idea / advise !! I have two bleeders like that, so the vacuum won't work! I was actually expecting a caliper, stainless trailing arm lines and a set of bleeders from VanSteel today....but UPS has apparently screwed up.....but when I called to check, Dan told me the bleeders were not included.....Out of stock. So, what size do I ask for at Napa? I want to install my braided lines (already had those) and other goodies Friday night, and really don't want to hassle with the old ones.

5/16, IIRC. Go to the Help! aisle at your local parts store - you can get speedbleeders there. They're about $6 each.
