Default e-brake question

1969 right rear pins and brakes were missing so i decided to replace every thing for the e-brake system.i have the left side done went to the right but because the outter pin is missing i have a problem.do i have to remove the backing plate just to get the pin in place???what a mess..........

Remove the 4 nuts and pull the backing plate. FWIW, get some shipping popcorn or crumble up a small piece of paper and put it in the caliper mounting bracket hole, than tape it down. Put the pin in and bolt the backing plate back on. When you go to put that spring and cup on, you'll thank me b/c it's a PITA without anything behind it.

I stuck my pins in place with some weatherstrip adhesive. It held them in place well enough to get the springs and cups assembled.
