Default Wiring issues

68 427/390

Just got the motor back in and hooked up. No heat to the + on coil. No ground to the - on coil.
Also on the amp (over pas side wheel well) for the transistorized dist there is a red wire that looks like it goes to the starter.?? Does it?. Pic below.

Motor turns over well.

If I jump hot to + on coil, and neg to - on coil, and + to the red amp wire. Nothing.

I marked everything I took off and thought I got it all back together.
Im asking here for advise so I dont have to burn things up trying to trace it all down. Thanks..

Ive seen guys get some amazing info out some crappy pics. Well here are the crappy pics.

Did it work before you did the engine? If so, the first thing I would do is put the original coil back on. That original transistor ignition needs the correct coil. That transistor box looks mighty old. I am surprised that old boy is still working. Have you used a battery charger? That will get um.

The (-) side of the coil goes to the distributor. The (+) plus side should have +12v with the key on. Are you running the factory TI?

Everything I have there is what was there before, coil included and it ran..

See the 2 red wires from the bottom of the TI box. One goes into a harness and one is long enough to reach the starter and has a big wire connector on it that could go on the batt cable at the starter. Does it go there?.

I have no juice with the key on at the + side of coil. I ran a hot there and nothing.

I also have no - at the - side of the coil???? But I jumped that and nothing.

What will a batt charger do? The coil and TI box?

This coil and wires are temp. Came with car.

Thanks alot guys..
