hello
i have a 1970 454 4speed and i have a question. After the car warms up and is on the road for a while, the rear end makes a strange noise in in low rpms and also around turns. its almost like a popping noise. is this the clutch or ?
thanks
When's the last time you changed the rear end fluid. I would do this and be sure to add the posi additive.
That usually solves the problem, and a lot of people actually use 2 bottles of the posi additive. I changed my fluid once not using GM fluid with the posi additive, and I had noise that was not there before; I switched back to GM fluid with the additive and no more noise! I suggest using GM fluid and additive.
It's amazing what the fluid change can do. I had a '67 that chattered on turns and so I changed the fluid. As soon as I backed out of my driveway and made the first turn, all was well.

Yep.....I used Mobil synthetic 90W with 2 little bottles of the GM additive. Shut my clatter and chatter right UP!
Suck out the old fluid with an old style "pull" suction pump - sold at Autozone for about 12 bucks. Refill through the same side hole til it starts to run out.
