Many thanks for all the help so far. Under the hood in the same bundle with the flat 2 wire connector that goes to the compressor clutch is another connector with 2 wires. One is large and black and the other is smaller and black and green. The connector has them turned 90 degrees
from each other. Any idea where this goes? It doesnt appear to reach any further than the compressor but now its just hanging.
Thanks
J Bowles
The cycling switch is wired in prior to this connector. I'm wondering if the
wiring for the idle speed solenoid was hooked to this connector and then ran to the carb. I don't have that solenoid present so its hard to tell.
Maybe someone with a 1980 thats closer to original than mine could comment on this. Again the connector is very close to the clutch connector.
The idle stop solenoid wire is a single light green wire, long enough to reach the drivers side of the carb. The '80 factory wiring diagram shows no other wiring coming from the compressor harness, other than the clutch cycling switch.
P.S. If the wires are a heavy gauge, they may be for the auxiliary engine cooling fan.
My 80 has this connector, and Big G is correct it goes to the cooling fans if equipped. I think that was L82 only. I found a ton of this info from the NCRS 80-82 manual. I have the L48, and my connector is tucked in the fender, tie wrapped to the ac line that runs along the inner fender.
