I believe that the easiest way is to remove the hood and take the radiator support out as an assembly. Its realy easy that way to replace the shroud and corectly install the seals. I found it to be sooooo much easier that way, especially if you have someone to help with hood and support removal and installation.

On my 75 the A-arms got in the way when I tried to intall the shroud without reoving the hood.

Good luck.

Removing the shroud is a PITA. I had mine out recently for a radiator replacement. In hind sight , removing or looseing the support sounds like a good idea. I have ac so I elected not to go that route. Luckily a previous owner had modified the shroud so it would come out more easily. It was still tough, even with the modifications.

I have a 79 and it wasnt too difficult. I removed the fan blade , diaconnected the hoses and unbolted the shroud and snaked it out. Maybe I was lucky.

To remove the upper a arms on both sides you do not have to remove the rad shroud. You can simply tap out the studs which are holding the upper a arm shaft. Mine came out very easily and only needed to be removed on the passenger side.

YUp, you cut it about 1/2 way up, across each side....then take some aluminum to make a kinds sandwhich with the bottom lip, leaving a slot for the top 1/2 to slide into...4 screws/nuts it's done....then you can pop the top off at will, and get to whatever you need SO much faster....

been doing that for years with various cars...old trick...

Course you go the Dual Spal route, and you can kiss that damn shroud good assed freeking BY forever.....

Even better to dump it while you are at there and buy 1-2 electric fans
