I am going to change the tachometer in my 69.
But after loosening all visible screws, it seems like it is stuck in the top middle.
Any tips on how to get it out?
Doc2 69.docWhen I replaced my speedometer, I removed the steering column. This provided the clearance I needed to remove the dash. The dash is a tight fit. The attachment comes out of the 1969 chassis service manual.

Loosen the 2 bolts on the steering column and this will give you about 1 more inch to work with.
Then you have to reach up behind and disconnect the tach and speedo cable.
Do not put too much pressure on your steering column, and watch the lip on the bottom of the dash panel as I have seen people wreck this as it sticks into the column.
I had my dash out not long ago. I agree that it will be alot easier if you drop the steering column. I think the proper way to do that is to remove the bolts connected at the steering flex coupler under the hood, then remove the 2 bolts in the floor and the 2 under the dash. This will allow the steering column to drop down. If you do not unbolt the bolts at the steering flex coupler there is damage that can be done somewhere. Jim Shea has all of those answers!! I'll give you his link below. You will also have to unplug the harmonica cable to the steering column as well as the ign. switch cables (2). I have pictures of that as well and I will add that link too. Good luck,
