i need to ship a l-88 hood from detroit to fresno, ca. ups, and fed-ex both told me that because the box exceeds 130 in they will not ship it. does anyone know of a carrier that will do this for me? :flag
They shipped my hood to me and built a damn good crate in the process. I still have the crate, and I'd give it to you, but it would cost a bunch to ship it there.
Total shipping from Here to Atlanta was going to cost about 190 bucks, the guy ended up driving up here to buy my old hood instead, so now I'm stuck with a crate :).
Try greyhound i heard they will do it for 50.00 just wrap cardboard around it with tape.Might take afew boxes to do it .good luck .Terrys68convert. :yesnod:
I ran into this problem when trying to ship a set of rear window louvers. The box was too big to make it through their conveyor belts. Believe it not, the postal system took it (parcel post).
I shipped a h ood from Illinois to Texas. Went by Yellow Freight. Sent it for aobut $40. I hear you can send things by Rail also. , and its cheap. Get some big refrigerator boxes and sandwich the hood in between . Use foam around the corners of the hood and cardboard over . Use strong duct tape with cloth in it; its contractor grade.
