Carb will bolt on but jetting will be different. From my handy Lars' Q-Jet tuning guide:
17056207 is for a '76 Vette or Nova with a manual transmission. 77 main jets, 48 main rods, and CH secondary rods. Main jet area is 2.8471 at cruise and 4.1257 at WOT (wide open throttle).
For a '75 HIGH PERF Vette with manual transmission (same for auto), 72 main jets, 44 main rods, and CH secondary rods. Cruise jet area is 2.5510 and WOT jet area is 3.5406
Bottom line. This carb should run fine. You are going to be about 11.6% richer at cruise and 16.5% richer at WOT. You may need to play with the jetting later but try it as is first.
which is bigger the 77 or the 72 jets or flows more gas?
Plus where do you get all these "lars" papers I hear about all the time????
77 jets are bigger than 72's. But, in a Q-Jet, it is the relation between the jet and rod sizes that determines fuel. Also, all main rods have the same size tip, the number determines the diameter of the cruise portion. So, you can tune WOT fuel by changing the jet, then tune cruise fuel by changing the rod.
