Default In Over My Head!!

Well I got the zz4 with keisler 5spd kit installed in my 72 convertibile. Now the fun starts, where does it all go? I don't know near as much as I remember knowing from my teens and 20's about hotrods. The new engine was the zz4 turnkey kit with serp belt and accessarys. I got some help a few days ago with the alt wiring but now my amp gauge read +20 all the time, What does that mean. I installed 2 electric fans, Is that why?? where does the vac advance for the HEI come from? I have the holley 750 dbl pumper that came with the kit and there is a vac port on the pass side up high is that it?? What should the timing be set at? The engine didn't have the degreed scale so I will be eyeballing?? Timing is set with avd vac unplugged right. As you can tell by these questions I am struggling to keep my head above water. It would be great if the sharks would start to circle!!!!

Follow this for your timing questions. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1430339

Use a port for the vacuum advance that provides vacuum constantly. The look for a lower port on the carb.

I've been there before. The best thing to do it take one little piece at a time. After awhile, you will look at all the little pieces and they will add up to the whole thing.

No shame in asking for help. Find someone in your area to give you a hand, even if it costs you beer and pizza.

Does your amp gauge read high all the time or just when the fans are running? (I assume the fans are radiator fans, right?) Do you know what the fans rated amperage is? What type of alternator do you have?
