I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I won't pretend to know anything about working on an ignition. My 77 vette is not getting any spark. Any words of wisdom?
Also, where's a good place to get some literature for this car? I can't wait to get it out on the road.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I bought the car not running, so I really don't know what could be broken. One of these days I'll have time to tear into it, we'll see what I find.

In the end it may be cheaper to buy a complete MSD clone distributor from ebay.

The HEI is a pretty simple system. It should be fairly easy to troubleshoout it. You'll learn a lot in the process, and the money you spend will be cheap tuition. Also, there's plenty of help here on the forum, so just post any additional questions you have as you're working on it.
I suspected no spark since it cranked, was getting fuel but never even came close to firing. To confirm it, I had my friend crank the starter while I pulled spark plug wires off the distributor. No arc, no spark.
Just for the heck of it, I replaced the ignition module. When I cranked, the motor fired a few times on its own but I couldn't keep it running (this car hasn't been driven in at least 6 or 7 years, hasn't ran at all in a few) I also noticed that the tache was working correctly.
Shortly after that, I lost spark, coincidentally the tache isn't working.
I still need to put more time into this, but just thought I'd post an update.
