Default Better brakes?

Can anyone recommend some better brakes for C3's? The brakes on the C6's are amazing, but I believe that whole setup might be a little too big for our 15x8 wheels. It's easy to make a C3 fast, but stopping it is a little trickier. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do.

This might well be all you need, EBC "yellow" brake pads. Not their green, and not their red pads. But their "yellow" pads. These are race pads that are also claimed to work on the street because they grip when cold. They are also supposed to be quiet and have similar dust to stock. Get big brake stopping power for only the cost and effort of swapping pads. Have your cake and eat it too.

I just got a set myself, but I haven't had a chance to install them yet. They look just fine, but time will tell if they are as good as is claimed. You might want to consider this route. I have read good things about them, though I have no first hand experience with them yet. If you don't like them, it wouldn't be the end of the world to toss 'em.

Here's the source I used:

Simple..speak to Kieth at Corvette Engineering...he has some real nice Wilwood set ups for the C3.

A couple members, including myself, have installed Wilwood calipers and/or rotors. Depending how much you want to fabricate or spend (I prefer fabricating to spending) you can take some decent weight off the unsprung portion of the car (the rotor weights are at three o'clock, the total weight is at six o'clock). In my case I took 12 pounds off each corner of the car, and I can still fit my 15 inch street rims on the car.

Owned my '72 here street driven quickly for 12 years now...fought these brakes to a standoff, untilll last year....

this is what to do.....strip down the calipers, see if they are stainless lined, if so, you are fine, if not the bores are probably pitted and junk, so you need either new calipers from VBP fitted with O ring pistons/seals OR you need the Oring piston set for all 4 calipers, toss the springs behind the pistons in the trash....replace all 4 hoses, examin the lines, anything looking trash, replace....order a new master cyl from Pirate Jack hotrod.com it's aluminum, get the shallow bore version like later sharks.....remove the power booster and junk it, look around for a Hydroboost setup that runs off you P/steering pump...

when this is all installed and plumbed up and the rotors from NAPA are installed, and running true, NO side/side wobble, the rear end hub/bearings are in decent shape...fill with DOT5 fluid, and have fun....

bleed them down, and forgetaboutit....

total cost without NEW calipers about 400 bux, roughly...
total cost WITH new calipers about 300 higher....

BUT when this is done, you have a shark that will stand on it's nose and bruise yours into the steering wheel when applied....

took me a LONG TIME to find the solutions, thems that....
