I bought and installed these particular shocks when I rebuilt the front end and replaced the rear spring. These are the ones VB recommends to use with its' composite rear spring. I am very disappointed in the performance of these shocks. The ride is to bouncy and soft. Anyone else using these shocks? I will be contacting VB next week to see if I can work out a return deal and get the regular KYB's. I have use them before and have been very pleased with the performance. Does anyone know who I should ask for at VB? I hope they will work with me on this one.

Re: KYB GR2 shocks (sd pacecar)
I was thinking of buying these for the rear of my car and going with the regular KYB's in the front. I don't know why you would use them on the front as they are valved for mono springs.
The valving should prevent rebound problems associated with mono springs.
I never ran the old shocks with the new spring. One thing that has occured with my car is, the suspension is bottoming out. That never happened with my 72 that had a 300# spring and regular KYB's. That leads me to believe that the shocks are too soft for the spring. Some members that run a composite rear spring use a Koni adjustable shock. They are a bit pricey for me. I will switch out the fronts first and see how the car handles and rides.
That's interesting. I put a set of these on my F-41 equipped '69 BB because the local vette shop (Corvette Express) had such good luck with them. I think your right about the soft "feel", but in my case, that was a good thing. The regular KYB's I pulled off were quite old, but it definitely had a harsher (probably just firmer) ride. Now in all fairness, I also put poly bushings and new ball joints in at the same time, so there are other variables. Other than that, its stock and I still need to replace the rear shocks. All in all, these shocks are one of the less expensive items and I'll take a chance on them. If I really wanted to go hog wild, I'd get Carreras or fully adjustable Koni's (I wish!).
I am running the hard rubber A-arm bushings from Guldstrand and a bumpsteer kit. All the other stuff is stock. I ran the KBY's in an 84 Z51 and the ride really got harsh. My 72 felt great with the KYB'S. My 90 felt great too. Now I am wondering why I went with the 2nd gen KYB. This is one more thing I will be changing out in the future.
