Default '70 Missing Grill Part???

Am I missing a grill/bumper parts? Assuming there is a part to fill in the holes, what are they called and who sells the replacement parts?

Yes your vehicle is missing the black spoiler that lies below the fiberglass section.. You can by on ebay or through various catalogs.

Check around the bumper blocks in the neighborhood where the previous owner lived.

That spoiler should also help throw some air up through those holes into your radiator area...

Okay, I can see where the car is missing the spoiler. I don't see how the spoiler covers the holes (right & left) forward of the spoiler. Are the holes supposed to be open? Maybe I do not understand this correctly. If it's not too much trouble, could somebody post a picture of the underside of the grill with the spoiler intact?

Think of the holes as your Corvette's nostrils. Thats where it breathes. The spoiler is needed to force air up in to the holes

Great analogy!! Given all the electrical components for the headlights, I'd think water would get up there and cause shortage problems

To all you C3 veterans: Sorry if my questions seem very basic (yes, I do a search before posting a topic,) but I am new to the C3 world. Over the past ten years, I've owned a '96, '98 & currently own a '05 and have been a member of this forum since '00. I've always loved the chrome bumper sharks, but up till about two weeks ago, have never owned one. Don't tell my C6 friends, but I like the C3 better than the C6. The wealth of information that you "Pros" provide is invaluable. Thanks.

yeah those "holes" are supposed to be there... they were a quick and easy fix to help or at least try to help the big blocks breath a little bit more. I always thought there should be at least some trim or something around those holes but nope... that's just how they are...

Gotta love our chrome bumper cars.... I know I do mine....

HTH,

Sully

Without those "HOLES" our c3's would overheat in a flash.

Instead of the stock spoiler consider a larger one - they really look
good, help air flow and bolt on.

Don't worry about asking questions. That is what this board exists for. There are many knowledgable people who post here and they welcome the questions. You will also welcome those holes in the bumper if you have any headlight issues in the future that is the only way to access the headlight buckets when they are closed.

Enjoy the ride looks like you have a nice car. Unless you have overheating issues the stock spoiler is more than adequate and the bigger the spoiler the more things you are going to scrape it on, there is not a whole lot of clearence under it as it is.
