After 1 year 11 1/2 months, she finally growled. :D Oh it's good to be alive. I'm taking it on the street tomorrow for the ' 30 to 60 mph a few times ' break in. Now maybe I can reply when some one has a question instead of ' I've got it but it hasn't run yet so I can't tell you what it's like or how it works.' Funny that it's running just in time to be parked for the winter. Thanks to all who have helped me get this project to live.
I sure want to see some pics. I am currently debating whether to put a 502 or a 454 in my 72. What exhaust system are you running and did you modify the 502 in anyway(ie. change the cam)?
I think there are enough 502 guys on the C3 board now to officially start a 502 club, complete with an avatar  I hope you get to drive it for a little bit before it has to finally be put away for thw winter.
Wife and I took it out today. OOOOOYYYYYAAAAAA :D :D :D :D :D First stop was for more gas when first people came to check out the car. " They had a '69 BB back in Ontario " .he said. (wonder why the were hitch hiking?) He asked " Wow. Is that engine built with ALL K&N parts." I smiled and said "umhum." Down the road we went, big grins, no hood. The a/c belt went flying by so we stop ( a/c seized up ). Engine running great so we go again. Charge light comes on and alt. guage drops to 12. We stop. The alt. is sure making a ugly noise. Oh well. Time for a high amp alt. Engine is still running Great. We turn around and it's off we go again. Fans worked great. Only needed one cuz no hood and only 60f. Alt. goes to 11, 10, 9, 8. To the battery shop we head and Oh poopie!!!  I forgot to unplug and hook up my vacum advance after timing. I wonder what that did to my engine? Good thing she (the built in rev limiter) was with me. Anyway the vette sits at the at the battery shop for the night. It seemed like it had way more power than the L 48 but nothing near what I had expected. Damn vac. advance. No wonder it got a lot more power at about 3000 rpm.
Tomorrow I get the full thrill at bottom end.
Sorry No pics yet. As soon as I button up the wiring and clean it up and a few other odds and sods pics will be on.
No, the stock hood doesn't fit. I have a stinger scoop but I don't have it on yet. Looking at it more closely and I am now not sure if it will fit. I have a 14"x3" air cleaner but maybe with a 12' and K&N top? It'll have to wait until I can get to it.
The conversion was done when I bought the car. Part of the reason I bought the car. Was supposed to have been done in Vancouver, B.C. Can. They did a great job. Looks factory. They were supposed to have done 10. I guess any '68 - '74 vert top parts can be used on any c3 coupe. More than this I don't know.
I took some engine pics in the garage but they never turned out very well so maybe tomorrow.
We did take the car out again today an it was awsome with the vacum advance hooked up. Also got a new 93 amp alt in. I looked under the car tonight to find a screw I dropped and I see a puddle under there. Maybe oil or tranny. Poopy! O well. Tomorrow is another day.
The a/c belt went flying by so we stop ( a/c seized up )....... Charge light comes on and alt. guage drops to 12. We stop. The alt. is sure making a ugly noise. Oh well. Time for a high amp alt. ..... We turn around and it's off we go again. ..... Alt. goes to 11, 10, 9, 8. To the battery shop we head
When I removed my A/C belt, it caused the alternator belt to be loose enough not to charge the battery and lose its charge. I tightened the alternator up and problem was solved. Just FYI
Purdy wild ride on that 502 bike I'll bet. Looks awsome.
Took it out today and vacum secondaries are not kicking in so that is the next look-at.
After the a/c belt came off I checked the alt belt tension and it was good. The old alt is in the garbage now. Thanks for the info and your experience.
Took some pics so now I'll see if I can post them.
